Location: North central Ontario County, 0.7 of a mile south of Shortsville.

Mill Drop Falls Map      Starting from Exit 43 on Route 90, proceed south on Route 21 for 2.4 miles to Standpipe Road and turn left (east). In 0.3 of a mile Standpipe Road will merge with Pioneer Road. Continue on Pioneer Road and in a short distance turn left (northeast) onto County Road 19. After crossing the Canandaigua Outlet turn right (east) onto Taylor Road. Less than 200 feet past the intersection is a small parking area on the right (south) that is maintained by the Town of Manchester.

From the parking area walk back to the intersection with County Road 19 and continue walking along it to the Canandaigua Outlet. Use caution while walking along the road as the speed limit is 55 mph. Soon you will be able to see Mill Drop Falls to your right (southeast) about 150 feet away.

The land on both sides of Mill Drop Falls is private property.

Please do not trespass.

Mill Drop Falls is located at the site of an old mill dam built around 1836. The southern end of the mill dam has collapsed and the waters of the Canandaigua Outlet rush through the 18 foot wide opening and drop 5 feet. Mill Drop Falls is best seen in the early spring.

This section of the Canandaigua Outlet is the site of a popular whitewater paddle known as "The Shortsville Run." It is a class II-III whitewater paddle. The route passes over Mill Drop Falls. For more information visit the American Whitewater web site: Canandaigua Outlet Littleville to Manchester. The Shortsville-Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce holds a Wild Water Derby on "The Shortsville Run" in late April.
